Bayou Blast Unreal Engine 5 Project

Bayou Bash!
My first Unreal Engine project in a long time. I wanted to get back into Unreal Engine development as I haven't used it for a couple of years. I found this character design for Bash Samson and was incredibly inspired. https://www.artstation.com/kent2d
At the same time, I found this amazing tutorial on how to get a great combat system working in Unreal. https://youtu.be/4omEu9N9WIE?si=5O-fyibRft-M_4iT
So the stars aligned and I began working away at this project. In total this project has around 30 animations for both Bash (The main character) and Ghoul (The Zombie enemies)
With this project I really wanted to get that cool over the should Third Person Shooter feel that God of War has, but with a more Arcade-y feeling beat-em-up style. After getting in all the main functionality in, I wanted 3 new things that I ended up implementing.
Launching - Being able to launch both yourself and the enemy into the air
Juggling - Hitting an enemy while in the air causes it to juggle back upwards
Spiking - A Super Smash Bros style spike that would pierce the enemy straight down into the ground
Insomniac's Spider-Man was also partly an inspiration for this combat system.
After originally posting my work to LinkedIn, I was approached by Jonathan Urso about doing sound for the project. I was really blown away by his take on the combat. The crunchy and juicy feel this added to my work was undeniable. Jonathan was nice enough to then separate his work out into separate assets to allow me to actually implement them into the project. This work would not be as cool without him.

Illya Hlushko is an amazing Programmer and I want to thank him for going over some of my code logic and helping me out a lot.
